See Color With Sound
Jun 16th, 2010 by admin

Have you ever wondered how people with vision impairment get dressed? How do they know what goes with what, what matches? Texture and touch can only tell so much but color has to be seen, not felt. In fact if a person is born blind, how do they know what a color is at all? It’s a labeling system almost entirely based on visual feedback. The Bright-F aims to translate that information into sounds.

It detects the brightness, saturation, and hue of color. You can sort thru like colors by organizing them in groups with similar tones. This is incredibly useful for washing basic garments because we all know a white undie doesn’t do so well with a red t-shirt.

Stampy Digital Camera
Jun 9th, 2010 by admin

Why would you want a digital camera that doubles up as a rubber stamp? Why? The answer is simple….just for fun! As of now digicams offer a variety of options and modes (sepia, landscape etc.) to take pictures and edit them. Stampy Digital Camera gives you the option of creating a rubber-stamp version of your photograph, so that you stamp it onto any sheet of paper or surface. If you ask me, the best way to tweak this concept will be to have it stamp out pictures in multi colors instead of the single red. What do you think?

Turtle Style Backpack
Feb 21st, 2010 by admin

That’s all you need for the most naturally ninja-tastic backpack you’re ever gonna own. Straight from Shenkar College of engineering and design in Tel Aviv, Israel, here’s Davidi Galid’s “Meiosis.” Three dimensional polygons galore in a grid system that screams naturalistic and it’s probably really really safe on the inside.

I don’t often do this, but this designer, Davidi Galid, has such a way with words that I’ve just got to quote him word-for-word:

The backpack is the development of a new way of assembly that utilizes the physical attributes of the materials from which it is made. It is constructed of a three-dimensional polygon system, which is the result of released tensions and convergence of the material.

While the backpack parts are in that state, the bag gets its exterior shape, and remains so due to geometric locks as a result of the shrink. The relationship between the parts enables the opening and closing of the backpack, and determines its design and unique shape.

I wish each pack could be form-fitted perfectly to the wearer. I’ve always wanted my own shell. It seemed to me unfair that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had these really useful shells that they could store things in when I was a kid – then I realized that they probably couldn’t do that.

But now you can!

Mouse Pen
Feb 18th, 2010 by admin

Flattery is going to get you everywhere Mr Marcial Ahsayane, and I love the way you describe this concept project as a standard mouse that can be used as pen sensor for specific design works. Shifting focus to the “eVouse”, this one is meant for your laptops and iPads and flits effortlessly between being a mouse and a pen sensor for specific design works.

“The design of the mouse is a mix between a classic mouse and a tablet pc. The actions buttons and the scroll are tactile. It becomes illuminated by green light in every action movement as a feedback for its use. In fact, eVouse is, like the Minotaur, a design with body of a mouse and the head and tail of an optical pen.”

Snakey Cam Gets To Those Odd Angles
Dec 24th, 2009 by admin

Fleksimus Camera features a flexible tube fitted with a lens on one end, while the other end hooks on to a compact viewfinder or 3” Color Display. It captures both still pictures and video; promising to take photography to a whole new level! Sporting a very minimal style, the unit features bare-minimum controls. Even tho specs are not given, I can only imagine how the flexible tube will allow me to take pictures from impossible angles.

Power tools for your need
Jul 16th, 2009 by admin

Power Tools: Hitachi, Makita, Campbell Hausfeld and many more name brand power tools

To make a lot of the great designs and great products, there are some tools that we can’t forget to use. There are some tools that we can use. Although it might not look complicated to use them and their pricey tag, it is needed.

Their website is quite complicated where there are many options to choose and not quite a lot of explanation on spot, you might get a better explanation but you have to download the pdf files.

But the use of power tools are necessary. There is nothing in this life activity that require no tools. The closest thing in our house need a tools to have it fixed. Their lift navigation bar is quite a lot to read, since tools are varied in many different kinds.

Now if we talk about hand tools, we might want to think about the quality. When we buy it online, we might have to think about how to ship it cheaper than if we go to the local store. Sometimes we want to know the quality, the feel of the hand tools, but at least in the website you can see the great picture, the design and the price comparison.

The simple thing in the household tools is the screwdrivers, as there might be a lot of kinds for screwdrivers with many different kind of the sizes,  you can at least take a virtual walk on their ‘alley’ of tool shop and also find the best power screwdriver for your small or large size industry.

If you want to take a look, find it on their website as they might be shocking with many brand names of saws, wrenches, screwdrivers, air tools, drill and more. Many name brands that they carry are Hitachi, Bostitch, Campbell and more.

Hourglass light
Jul 16th, 2009 by admin

I still sleep with a nightlight, if you consider the soft pulsing glow of my Mac’s power button a light but since we’re supposed to be living in a era of “green”, we need to find a nightlight that only works while we’re awake. Let’s face, it doesn’t do a thing for us while we’re fast asleep. I’m sure there are timed nightlights out there but how about something with a little more decorum?

This hourglass nighlight by Sun Young Lee some how magically stays lit only when there’s a stream of sand running across it. I’m sure it’s all scientific, having to do with completing circuits but for the sake of fanatacism, I will say the sand is actually faery dust and that light – a firefly.

Savior In Deep Waters
Jun 28th, 2009 by admin

Generally the focus is always on rapid action response kinda systems that help provide relief during disasters. The flat-pack recovery Rescue Boat seen here is not for rapid response but for post-disaster scenarios. The focus is on a systematic, reliable vessel that will help recover cargo and victims. It is stored and transported in its stackable 9″-deep form, with pontoon tubes detached; till its services are required.

The pontoon tubes add stability to the design and are attached when the boat is set in the water. The sidewalls fold up to become handrails and rotate further to become ladders, to help up stranded folks. Depending upon the retrievals, it can either be used as a flat space for cargo or pull up the foldable seats to accommodate 26 pax.

A tent stored in the floor compartment comes in handy as temporary accommodation, when you bring ashore the vessel.

Facts and figures:

- L’ x W’ x H’: 14 x 8 x .75 (w/tubes 14 x 8 x 1.75)(w/tent 14 x 8 x 5.75)
- Material considerations: heavy-duty biopolymer (or aluminum) for boat body and pontoon tubes, steel sidewalls. Wooden or plastic oars, plastic or aluminum benches, canvas or synthetic tent, rubberized metal tent poles.
- Seating capacity: 10 comfortably, 20 full capacity, 26 maximum
- Sleeping capacity: 8 comfortably, 14 maximum
