Finger Stirrer
Feb 28th, 2010 by admin

If you ask me I’d say yes, but spoons and stirrers are there for a reason too. While you linger over the double meaning, let’s just grab some coffee in this special cup and imagine how we would stir in the milk and sugar if none of the above implements were at hand. With our fingers of course! And that too via its flexible lid; poke a finger through and get stirring mister! “Finger Coffee” Anyone?

Turtle Style Backpack
Feb 21st, 2010 by admin

That’s all you need for the most naturally ninja-tastic backpack you’re ever gonna own. Straight from Shenkar College of engineering and design in Tel Aviv, Israel, here’s Davidi Galid’s “Meiosis.” Three dimensional polygons galore in a grid system that screams naturalistic and it’s probably really really safe on the inside.

I don’t often do this, but this designer, Davidi Galid, has such a way with words that I’ve just got to quote him word-for-word:

The backpack is the development of a new way of assembly that utilizes the physical attributes of the materials from which it is made. It is constructed of a three-dimensional polygon system, which is the result of released tensions and convergence of the material.

While the backpack parts are in that state, the bag gets its exterior shape, and remains so due to geometric locks as a result of the shrink. The relationship between the parts enables the opening and closing of the backpack, and determines its design and unique shape.

I wish each pack could be form-fitted perfectly to the wearer. I’ve always wanted my own shell. It seemed to me unfair that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had these really useful shells that they could store things in when I was a kid – then I realized that they probably couldn’t do that.

But now you can!

Measuring baby lenght
Jan 27th, 2010 by admin

Babies being babies will not stay still just because you want to measure their progress in height. They are going to squirm, scream and do everything possible, when you take that tape measure from head-to-foot! This is why I simply adore the Baby Measuring Crib Fitted Sheet. It looks to be this fun, non fussy way of marking your baby’s growth progress. The graphics on this sheet reflect an accurate measuring scale. What’s more, it’s printed on 100% cotton with environmentally friendly ink. Totally Baby-friendly!

Hourglass light
Jul 16th, 2009 by admin

I still sleep with a nightlight, if you consider the soft pulsing glow of my Mac’s power button a light but since we’re supposed to be living in a era of “green”, we need to find a nightlight that only works while we’re awake. Let’s face, it doesn’t do a thing for us while we’re fast asleep. I’m sure there are timed nightlights out there but how about something with a little more decorum?

This hourglass nighlight by Sun Young Lee some how magically stays lit only when there’s a stream of sand running across it. I’m sure it’s all scientific, having to do with completing circuits but for the sake of fanatacism, I will say the sand is actually faery dust and that light – a firefly.

Another way of walking around
Jul 16th, 2009 by admin

Nothing beats walking. You get fresh air, see the sights, and the much needed exercise you KNOW you’ve been procrastinating on. That’s why you need something like this unicycle transport by designer Regimantas Vegele. It works like an elliptical machine. You get on and pedal except it’s not stationary. Sure, little kids may point and giggle as you whiz by but who cares! You’re on the move, on the go, and doing it all while staying fit and healthy.

Don’t Break The Piggybank
Jun 24th, 2009 by admin

In a somewhat unusual design by Derrik Wang, the Piggybank is one where you want to keep your money safe. This design is to help people save money and not spend it. The piggybank has a clever way of keeping you out and guarding your stash of money. If broken open, not only will your money come out, but the disgusting guts of the pig will also, thus convincing the owner to leave their money in peace. A surely unique way to saving money!

Intelligent Wristwatch Gaming
Jun 24th, 2009 by admin

It is only every few years that a new hand-held video game system gets invented. They keep getting smaller, having better graphics, and being basically the same amount of weird and bulky to carry with. What Wilson Song was tasked with doing was making a gamer that not only utilized the best in chips for graphics, but also stored a pen, earbuds, and had the ability to become smaller for easy carrying. Peel and see!

What a pretty looking little system we have here! Wilson Song this is just what I’d be using if it were real! The “Samsung WM” has earbuds and pen that clip intuitively into the back panel, a giant screen, and the ability to be tossed on the wrist like one of those slap-bracelets from the 1980s. The controls work with new motion-capture technology and a camera in the back to see what precisely your thumbs and feet are up to.

And it’ made of gold! Or regular materials.

Dinner ball table
Jun 7th, 2009 by admin

Pool Table manufacturers are constantly having to find new ways to justify their huge expense and massive real-estate usage. They also need to compete for attention from the internet, Video On-Demand and social-centric video games like Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution and pretty much anything on Nintendo’s Wii. Given these massive challenges, the Billiard Industry has looked to innovative design to save their ever shrinking markets. This “Fusion” pool table/dining room table was created by Aramith, long-time leading manufacturer in the billiard industry, the Fusion dining table innovates by adding multi-functionality as it combines a dining table, a pool table and a game table all in one. Multi-purpose functionality just might save the industry from going the way of the Dodo, or until Microsoft decides to add a billiards game to its “Surface” Table initiative.

Petite Cargo Pickup Plays Transformer
Jun 2nd, 2009 by admin

Here’s the deal about this fantastic Cargo Pick-up concept: Traffic’s bad, it’s only gonna get worse with time. To tackle inner city deliveries, is this innovative battery powered vehicle that boasts of variable track, wheelbase and load carrying configurations. It features a Compact Mode, Narrow Mode (with banking corner action) and Pick-up Truck Mode. The Compact Mode sees the Pick-up section flushed to the back of the cabin. It’s an ideal situation for small deliveries. The Narrow mode gives reduced width and higher maneuverability and as the name suggests, the Pick-up Truck Mode allows you to carry larger payloads.

The Clip-On composite body panels give plenty of real estate for putting up adverts, which I think is a brilliant idea.

The CarGo Pod or the storage compartment when empty can be removed to further reduce the vehicle length.
